Governor Schwarzenegger Urges Californians to Support Props. 94, 95, 96, 97
Governor Schwarzenegger today urged voters to join him in supporting Propositions 94, 95, 96 & 97 at a campaign event at the Valley Industry & Commerce Association offices in Los Angeles.
The Governor was joined by state and local leaders including California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell; Russ Reinhart of PORAC – representing more than 60,000 rank and file sheriff and police officers throughout California; San Miguel Fire District Chief Augie Ghio; Winnie Litten, Ventura County Teacher of the Year for 2007; and Valley Industry and Commerce Association President/CEO Brendan Huffman.

The decision on Props. 94 through 97 on the Feb. 5 ballot depends on voters sorting through a battle between competing special interests to find the public's stake. One crucial point should make that task easier: California is better off with the new tribal gambling compacts these measures represent than continuing with the current agreements.

City Council Supports Gaming Compact Between Tribe, State
The City of Palm Springs has a valued and longstanding relationship with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and this week paid homage to that relationship, calling the tribe a "tremendous partner."
The Council voted 4-0 to adopt a Resolution of support for the Amended 2006 Gaming Compact between the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and the State of California.

State Legislative Analyst Office Reports Indian Gaming Opponents Have Cost State $200 Million in Lost Revenue; More Than 100,000 Californians Join Coalition to Support the New Indian Gaming Agreements
SACRAMENTO – A report released yesterday from the state Legislative Analyst's Office states that the referendum effort undertaken by self-interested parties – a Las Vegas casino owner and other gambling interests who want to overturn four new Indian gaming agreements – have cost the state more than $200 million in lost revenue and will cause substantial damage to the state's budget.

Riverside County supervisors endorse gaming pacts
Riverside County supervisors Tuesday unanimously endorsed a resolution supporting tribal and state gaming agreements negotiated by Gov. Schwarzenegger and the Legislature.
Under the agreements, the Agua Caliente, Morongo and Pechanga tribes will pay higher percentages of net gaming revenues to the state in exchange for increasing the number of slot machines in casinos on existing tribal lands.

Coalition to Protect California’s Budget & Economy Formed to Protect Fair Share Indian Gaming Agreements
SACRAMENTO – A new coalition, called the Coalition to Protect California’s Budget & Economy, has been formed to support the state-tribal Indian gaming agreements with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians; the Morongo Band of Mission Indians; the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians; and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation.
The Coalition will work to educate voters about the importance of supporting the gaming agreements, which were negotiated by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and ratified by bi-partisan majorities in both houses in the California State Legislature.
